ICM Day Camps

ICM Day Camps are SERIOUS FUN!

Playing to learn at The Iowa Children's Museum is a great way to spend your time off from school!  Join us for both single day and week-long day camps filled with active learning that's certain to inspire your child to imagine, create, discover, and explore through the power of play!

Day Camps!

Banish cabin fever with the exhilarating day camps at The Iowa Children’s Museum!  Sign up early to ensure your child’s place in a unique camp experience that includes both guided activities led by our experienced museum educators, and plenty of free play within our marvelous museum exhibits.  Each camp is designed to appeal to kids of all skill levels and a wide range of ages.

Do It Yourself: Monday, February 15
Make, create, invent, craft and play in this hands-on camp. Kids will use real tools to build toys and projects made of wood and other fun materials. Campers will construct a pinewood derby car, learn the art of cake decorating and even star in their own comic book. This camp puts the DIY (do it yourself) spirit in full gear

Spring Break!

Fitness:  Monday, March 15
Don’t spend your Spring Break camped out on the couch – do something!  This camp is dedicated to helping kids enjoy a week off of school that’s healthy, lively, and fun!  Develop good habits early, and learn that being active is a way of life, not a chore.  You don’t have to run a mile to get in your exercise!  We’ll talk about and explore different kinds of active play around the museum: hula hoops, jump ropes, obstacle courses, and more!  We’ll also learn about eating right.  Together we’ll make delicious healthy snack recipes, do taste tests, and rate each one like a food critic.  Take home a “cookbook” filled with your favorites at the end!

Go Green:  Tuesday, March 16

Have fun that’s good for the earth too!  Join us to make plastic bag fashions, bubble wrap paintings, and even a plant starter.  Have a great time learning about mother nature and the 3Rs.

Circus:  Wednesday, March 17

The circus has it all – excitement, entertainment, fun furry friends, and colorful clowns.  Run away (just for the day) and join our circus!  We’ll paint your face like a clown or your favorite circus animal, learn about scarf juggling, and do some serious clowning around!

Creatures: Thursday, March 18
The
only thing that’s scary about this camp is how much fun we’re going to have!  Make your own monster mask, a mythical creature guidebook, some fantastic fantasy art, and write a monster adventure!

Printmaking: Friday, March 19
Calling all artists!  Printing is all around us: T-shirts, newspapers, even  cereal boxes!  Why not join in?  Campers will have a blast making their own stamp, creating a print collage, and even screen printing.  This camp will really make an impression!
