Volunteer service at The Iowa Children's Museum counts toward The 10,000 Hours Show! By volunteering at least 10 hours with local nonprofits, including ours, you get a free ticket to an awesome concert that's just for volunteers in Eastern Iowa! Past performers have included Ben Folds, Guster, Cake, and Jack’s Mannequin. Join thousands of volunteers rocking the state by registering here.
Monster Mash Sunday, October 26, 2008 The ICM’s Monster Mash is a big Halloween party at the museum! Volunteers are needed to help facilitate many arts and crafts activities, as well as games located throughout the museum. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in the festivities by dressing-up in their favorite kid-friendly Halloween costume! This is a great event for groups or individuals. Volunteer shifts are: 11:30am - 2:15pm & 2:00pm - 4:30pm
Peter The Turtle's Birthday! Saturday, October 4, 2008 The ICM’s pet turtle, Peter, is always a favorite of children visiting the museum. On this day, the museum will be celebrating Peter’s 11th birthday! There will be plenty of special activities in the museum that will require volunteer help. If interested in helping make this party a great event, contact Laura Savage at lsavage@theicm.org.
Family Free Night Last Friday of every month. Family Free Night is always the last Friday of every month! The Iowa Children's Museum offers free admission between the hours of 5 and 8pm. This is our way of thanking the community for their continuous support! Volunteers are needed to help interact with museum visitors, assist in the upkeep of museum exhibits and facilitate any special programs or events. If interested, please contact Laura Savage at lsavage@theicm.org.
Museum Exhibit Facilitator Volunteers are needed to facilitate our many interactive exhibits. While volunteering "on the floor", you will have the opportunity to interact with the museum visitors and help promote the importance of informal learning. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interacting with children and their families visiting the museum, assisting with the upkeep and cleaning of the museum exhibits, assisting museum staff with ongoing projects, and facilitating any special programs. While volunteering at The ICM you will gain experience working in an informal learning environment, have the opportunity to work with a fun, energetic staff, and learn the power of a child's smile. All interested volunteers must submit a Volunteer Application. You may pick up the application at the museum, or download it from this page. Once your application has been reviewed, you will be asked to come in for an interview. When you have been approved to volunteer with us, a brief orientation will be scheduled. Please contact Laura Savage at lsavage@theicm.org with any questions.
Office Help We are always looking for help around the office with such things as mailings and filing. Please let me know if you would be interested in coming in to help out with this. Any help would be very much appreciated!
